The Director of Business Development leads the organization’s
growth strategy, and outreach efforts. This position oversees the execution
of the business development and marketing plans.
This position supervises functions including Marketing,
Outreach, and Admissions in the planning, organizing, and directing of
referral and admission services in accordance with current standards and
regulations so that the highest degree of quality care is provided at all
Hires, directs, trains and
supervises the Marketing, Outreach and Admissions team for the organizationCoaches employees to overcome
objections and collaboratively work toward growth goalsEstablishes and maintains a
positive working relationship with referral sources, patients, families,
healthcare professionals, and the community at large to bring a greater
understanding of the hospice philosophy and support to all patients and
families who desire our careOversees the referral to
admissions process to achieve growth goalsUnderstand the demographic and
market analyses of existing and future markets to maximize business
development approachesUnderstands key drivers of
revenue, admissions and length of stay and designs strategies to achieve
organizational growth goalsAssist in the evaluation and
development of collateral materials including print, media and on-line

The Director of Business Development
reports to the CEO to ensure growth, marketing and outreach initiatives are
carried out and is responsible for growing inpatient and outpatient census.
Manages, trains and develops Business Development Team. Serves as a member of
the organization’s Management Team.
The Director of Business
Development is also responsible for helping to create an environment
and culture that enables the organization to fulfill their mission by meeting
or exceeding goals, conveying the organization’s mission, holding staff
accountable for performance, and motivating staff to continuously improve
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, or
Health Sciences related field preferred. Graduate degree preferred but not
requiredThree years healthcare sales management experience with
demonstrated successProven history of achieving or exceeding patient census growth
goalsKnowledge of current hospice criteria, Medicare, Medicaid, State
and Federal regulations Thorough understanding of the healthcare market and referral
sources Experience in developing new market presence, building business,
and cultivating relationshipsManagement and leadership skills needed include, team building,
communication, budget administration, coaching/mentoring others, negotiation,
and conflict management Ability to work collaboratively with senior and organization
leaders to achieve common goals Must have exceptional interpersonal and customer services skills
Must be able to demonstrate problem-solving abilities and have
excellent telephone, interpersonal and written communication skillsStrong commitment to teamwork and customer service, both
internally and externally, is required
